Effective Date: September, 15 2015
Last Reviewed: September, 15 2015

Starting with the class of 2019:

  1. Across the curriculum, some courses are already repeatable such as topical courses, internships, research, applied music, etc.

  2. The following rules apply to repeating a course for which a grade below a C is earned:
  1. A course for which a grade of C-, D or D+ is earned may be repeated only once. A course for which a grade of F is earned may be repeated until passed.
  2. In the calculation of the cumulative GPA, all grades for repeated courses are included and will appear on the permanent record (transcript). However, only the higher grade of a repeated course will be calculated in the major or minor GPA.
  3. The repeated course must have the same number as the original course and may not be taken as a directed studies course.
  4. Repeated courses must be taken for a standard letter grade and may not be taken Pass/Fail.
  5. No more than one course for which a grade of C-, D or D+ was earned may be repeated in a semester.
  6. When repeating a course a student must take a minimum of twelve (12) additional credits in order to maintain full-time status. It is the student’s responsibility to consult with the Offices of Student Financial Assistance as well as Academic Services and Advising regarding potential impact on aid.
  7. Academic probationary status is not removed as a result of repeating a course.
  8. The student must complete the course repeat approval process established by the Registrar’s Office.
  9. The course must be taken prior to the completion of the degree.
